Prawn Thokku
Ingredients:
Big Onions - 3 (Chopped)
Ripe Tomatoes - 3 ( Chopped)
Green Chillies - 3 (Slit)
Turmeric Powder - ½ Teaspoon
Chilli Powder - 1½ Teaspoons
Coriander Powder - 2 Teaspoons
Pepper Powder - 2 Teaspoons
Prawns - ½ Kg. (Cleaned & Deveined)
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 Teaspoon
Fennel Seeds - ½ Teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig
Coriander Leaves - 3 Tablespoons (Chopped)
Oil - As Required
Salt - As Required
Preparation:
- Take a frying pan, add some oil and temper it with half teaspoon of fennel seeds. Add the curry leaves along with the chopped onions. Sauté it until the onions become translucent.
- Then, add the ginger-garlic paste, sauté it for sometime, until the raw smell goes. Now add the chopped tomatoes, sauté it until the tomatoes turn mushy.
- Later, add the slit green chillies, one and half teaspoons of chilli powder, two teaspoons of coriander powder, half a teaspoon of turmeric powder along with the required salt.
- Add half a cup of water and let the mixture boil for ten minutes by stirring occasionally.
- Now add the marinated prawns into the mixture. Let it cook for seven to eight minutes. Once the prawns are cooked well, add the two teaspoons of the freshly ground pepper powder and switch off the flame.
- Garnish the 'Prawn Thokku' with the chopped coriander leaves.
Note:
* Prawns must be washed well and should be deveined. After washing, add the required salt and turmeric powder and marinate for half an hour.
* Don't overcook the prawns. If prawns are overcooked, they may lose their tender texture and become hard and rubbery.
